8 of my group of 24! July 25, 2013 🙂

This is the first time I’ve checked what week it is before!! Anyways, such a great week!! First off, we went down to Dublin AGAIN (I feel like I’ve done that sooo much since I’ve been in Derry-Londonderry!!). This time, it was for an All-Ireland conference! All 90 of us missionaries serving in Ireland were able to meet together with President and Sister Brown, our Assistants, President McRudden (Belfast N.I. Stake President), President O’Farrell (Dublin Stake President), and Elder and Sister Ladle who are a Family History missionary couple serving in Scotland. It was a great, uplifting and edifying meeting, so much was said, talked about, and learned, and whenever we have these meetings we just feel so motivated at the end of them. Our mission is taking a big turn and really pushing on member missionary work, and having the missionaries be the driving force of it all. I’m excited for that! Also, Family History was talked about as well as the 2015 Scotland/Ireland Mission plan. Everyone always come away from these meetings so happy and uplifted, and big part of it is because of the family-like friendships that we have all built together. At the end of each of our Zone or Multi-Zone conferences and meetings, we always put our arms around each other (expect the sisters of course… :P) and sing our mission song, “Till the Work is Done.” This time I had a voice recorder (thanks to Jessica Adams!) with me so I recorded all of us singing the song for you all to listen to. Hope you enjoy! It’s not the best recording, and it’s much better in person, but you get the point 😀 Yesterday was just amazing as well. There’s just a general overall “good feeling” across the mission, that’s the best way for me to describe it. That’s what these meetings do for us! At church yesterday a man named Lee, who knows a few members here, just showed up to church, loved it all, and asked to be taught! We also got the opportunity to teach C & M, our couple that let us in on Christmas Eve! We taught them with a returned missionary named Ben, and it was just a great lesson. Right now they aren’t showing a super big amount of interest, but they have been telling their friends about us and clearing up a TON of misconceptions about us, and have also told all their friends at work to let us in if they see us! And they have also mentioned how they would like to believe and be able to follow a good, it’s a good lifestyle and they realize that people are generally happier when following Christ. And that’s doctrine!! Mosiah 2:41 “And moreover, I would desire that ye should consider on the blessed and happy state of those that keep the commandments of God. For behold, they are blessed in all things, both temporal and spiritual; and if they hold out faithful to the end they are received into heaven, that thereby they may dwell with God in a state of never-ending happiness. O remember, remember that these things are true; for the Lord God hath spoken it.” The Gospel of Jesus Christ is what brings all of us the most happiness we can ever achieve in the eternities. Remember that and share it!! We also have a few other new people we are seeing this week, and it’s sure to make for a great week!! Love you all! Love, Elder Skylar Starr p.s. Here is a link the the mission song Elder Starr recorded.
