This week has gone pretty well! Something I’ve found in this area is that we are able to talk to a lot of people, and get a lot of return appointments, but almost none of them show up for their appointments. I think we had 6 cancel this week. So, the Zone Leaders told us about how President Brown thought we should “qualify” our appointments. Basically ask what questions they will have for us, what they expect, etc. We applied it, and we’ve seen it work! We have one man named Mike who we have tried to visit multiple times. We’ve had about 6 appointments set up, called to confirm as well, but when we get there, he postpones it because he is busy. We weren’t sure if it was just an excuse, or if he was being honest, so we qualified the appointment with him. We were able to find that he does have a sincere desire to learn more and be able to communicate with God! So we know he is sincere, and that his excuses were honest excuses.
The highlight of my week – yesterday a less active man named Dave showed up to church! he had a huge part in the ward in the past, but has just somehow gone less active. He still has a very strong testimony and knowledge of the gospel, but just doesn’t come to church because he can’t build up the courage to do so, and he also has various health problems. Well, we saw him Saturday evening, and some ward members have been doing some wonderful reaching out to him over the past few weeks, and yesterday he was able to come to sacrament meeting. I love this man, and when I saw him drive him we jumped out of our seats and ran to greet him. And the rest of the ward followed. He was so happy to be there and feel loved by everyone.
On Saturday we had a good day. We were able to make contact with a very prepared potential investigator that we haven’t seen for a while, and we set up a return appointment with her. And Michael is coming along to teach with us as well, so that’s very exciting. The day was not very good numbers wise, but at the end of the day it still felt good. Lately we have been trying our best to talk to everyone we walk by, and I think that’s what made Saturday feel good. We have too much success, but we did try our best. I think that was the difference!
Oh, on Tuesday it snowed! It just came outta nowhere, almost blizzard conditions! and it was the one day I decided not to wear my gloves or hat 😛 Then it snowed again when we were a bit further inland and further north, but none of it stayed.
Well on Sunday we have our ward missionary “MTC” on Sunday evening at 6:30 and we are very excited for that, I think it will make a big difference in the work here in this ward.
Well It’s looking like we have a good week ahead of us. Can’t wait! lots of appointments already, we just have to keep them.
Have a great week everyone!
